Bharathi Park

A government maintained park, The Bharathi Park is the green center of the French town Pondicherry. The park houses Aayi Manadapam in the center of the park. The placement of the park is apt, seated in the central region of the old colonial town. The park attracts several tourists and visitors primarily because of the significantly surrounding government buildings like the Lt. Governors palace, the legislative assembly, The Aurobindo Ashram dining room, and Pondicherry private club, the classic hotel Qualite so on and so forth. The park is wellmaintained and is lush and green.

Children playing in Ponds, grown up lazing off on the granite benches, families on picnic make the park a place to relax and stroll. Aayi Manadapam’s central positioning offers four split lanes dividing the park in four equal parts. Some new statues and the old structures make the park a place worthwhile a visit. On the other side is Puducherry art gallery. The UCO bank is surrounded by its own garden premises. A mighty stair lures its onlookers to the interior of a traditional bank. Towards the east hidden behind a thick wall and huge tree lies the former French bandstand that used to have the French army play band once.
